Bend Belluno Sister Cities Cultural Exchange

Andrea Alpago Novello participated in our collaborative Bend-Belluno Sister City and Rotary Youth Cultural Exchange Program for the month of June 2014.
Andrea maximized his cultural opportunities in Bend as he enthusiastically entered family and community activities, whether sport, culinary or just ‘hanging out’ with others.
He was invited to join his family on several “extreme” recreational opportunities such as “summiting” Mt Shasta in California and white-water rafting in Utah. Andrea was quickly accepted by the other kids and delighted the adults with his enthusiasm.
As a concrete example of Andreas commitment to this international exchange he made a presentation to our rotary club. After bringing greetings from the Belluno Rotary Club, he told about how the rotary club developed programs for youth in his Italian city, introducing us to some interesting concepts.
Rather than sitting back to be asked or just “traveling through as a tourist” he immediately engaged in family and community opportunities. From our view Andrea was a perfect match in our efforts to create long term international goodwill through individual experiences and friendships.
